Muhurat Trading: How Sensex And Nifty Performed In Last 5 Diwali Special Sessions?

India’s stock exchanges, BSE and NSE, host an annual Muhurat Trading session on the day of Diwali. The term ‘muhurat’ denotes an auspicious moment, and this unique session, spanning about an hour in the evening, marks the commencement of the traditional Hindu accounting year, Samvat.

Muhurat Trading took place on Friday, November 1, 2024 this. The Hindu calendar highlights the significance of ‘Muhurat’, an auspicious time to start something positive. The Stock market closed in the green territory on Friday, November 1, 2024, withholding the traditional culture of Muhurat trading. The Sensex surged 335.06 points to close at 79,724.12. Meanwhile, Nifty50 index also jumped 94.20 points to end at 24,299.55 level.

On Friday, top Sensex gainers included Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M), Adani Ports, and Tata Motors. HCL Technologies, Tech Mahindra, Asian Paints, and ICICI Bank were the only Sensex losers.

Muhurat Trading: Sensex And Nifty Performance In Last 5 Diwali Special Sessions

On Diwali 2023, the Indian stock market witnessed significant gains during the special one-hour trading session. The Sensex surged 354 points to 65,259 and Nifty closing at 19,525.

Indian equity benchmarks settled positively during the special session on Diwali 2022. Sensex climbed 524.51 points to settle at 59,831.66 and Nifty rose 154.45 points to end at 17,730.75 points.

On Diwali 2021, the Indian stock market witnessed significant gains during the special one-hour trading session. The Sensex surged 295.70 points, whereas, the Nifty added 91.80 points to settle.

Diwali 2020 special session also witnessed the surge, with Sensex gaining 195 points to close at 43,637.98 points. The Nifty 50 also rose to close near the 12,800 mark.

Indian stock markets ended the Muhurat Trading on Diwali 2019 on a positive note, with Sensex gaining 192 points to close at 39,250.
