Muhurat Trading 2025: While India will celebrate Diwali on Monday, October 20, the traditional Muhurat trading session will not be held on the same day. Instead, Dalal Street will operate with regular trading hours on Monday, from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm. The National Stock Exchange (NSE) has announced that October 21, 2025, Tuesday shall be a trading holiday on account of Diwali Laxmi Pujan and Muhurat Trading will be conducted on that day.
What is Muhurat Trading?
Muhurat Trading, the special one-hour trading session conducted by Indian stock exchanges to mark the beginning of the Hindu New Year, holds deep cultural and financial significance. This one-hour trading window is considered an auspicious time to invest in the markets and start the new financial year on a positive note. During this session, traders and investors have the opportunity to place fresh investments in stocks, mutual funds, gold ETFs, or any other securities.
Muhurat Trading 2025: Date and Timings of NSE, BSE Special Session
Muhurat Trading is usually kept on the day of Diwali or Laxmi Poojan and held in evening slot. However, for this financial year, the day and timings are both different.
The National Stock Exchange (NSE) and the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) have scheduled the Muhurat Trading session for Tuesday, October 21, 2025, from 1:45 pm to 2:45 pm. According to the circular, there will be a 15-minute pre-open session from 1:30 pm to 1:45 pm, while regular trading will begin at 1:45 pm.
