Furthermore, experts believe that during a recent meeting between Elon Musk and PM Modi in the US, the two discussed this potential expansion. The job listings include roles across customer-facing and back-end operations in Mumbai. This hiring spree indicates that Tesla is preparing for its entry into India, in line with the government’s recent policy changes designed to attract electric vehicle (EV) manufacturers.

The announcement came just days after a meeting between CEO Elon Musk and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the latter’s visit to the United States. This move marks a significant step for the company.

Tesla’s Plan For India
For the last few years, Tesla has been looking for a location to set up its maiden factory in India. For that they had a plan to invest USD 2-3 billion. Various reports suggest that the company has reportedly looked at the auto hubs of Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Gujarat. Generally, Carmakers like Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Tata, Mahindra, MG, Volkswagen, Skoda, Nissan, Renault, Citroen, Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Audi have a production facility in at least one of the three states.
