The advantages of the this Yojana are only available to inhabitants of the state of Maharashtra. Under this arrangement, the mother and daughter’s names are put to a joint bank account, which also receives a Rs. 1 lakh accident insurance policy and a Rs. 5000 overdraft. In addition, the parents would receive Rs. 50,000 if they want to have their daughter sterilised after she is born. If, on the other hand, sterilisation is performed after the birth of two girls, a sum of Rs. 25000 is granted in both girls’ names. Under this scheme, the money supplied by the state government can be used for the education of girls.

To be eligible for the Manjhi Kanya Bhagyashree Yojana, the applicant must have an Aadhaar card, the mother’s or female child’s bank account passbook, a mobile phone number, a passport-size photo, a residence certificate, and an income certificate. Even if there is a third child, only two females will profit from this strategy.
