In doing so, he established a remarkable world record for the longest continuous employment with a single company.
Walter Orthmann from Brazil has inscribed his name in the Guinness Book of World Records by serving the same company for 84 years. Walter Orthmann spent 84 years working in a company called Industrias Renox that later adopted a new name, Renox View. The company kept on changing its officials with time, and Walter remained the same. He started work in the textile company on 17th January 1938 at the age of 15 years.
He soon began a career as a salesperson and was promoted to the position of sales manager. Afterward, he continued without interruption in the same company as its sales manager. He has spent the last 84 years working in this company, setting the record for the maximum period one has worked in a single company by the Guinness World Records. None ever spent such a long period in a single company before.

This summer, Walter has turned 100 years old. In an interview reviewing his record, Walter said he never gives much thought to the future, and neither does he waste his time thinking about the past. He did not plan much and took every day as a challenge – and that is his secret for success.
