Bank Holidays: People who have some pending tasks at the bank must plan their visit accordingly. The banks will be closed for a few days this month in several cities across the country. Meanwhile, there is a lot of ongoing confusion among people regarding the exact date of Mahavir Jayanti. While there may be some uncertainty, the event will fall on April 10, Thursday.
Banks Will Remain Close On April 10
People must note that tomorrow will be observed as a public holiday, and banks will remain closed. It will be followed by the usual closure on Saturday and Sunday. Mahavir Jayanti marks the birth anniversary of Lord Mahavir, who was the last Tirthankara. He is considered a saviour and spiritual teacher in Jainism.
Banks To Be Open In These Cities
However, according to the RBI list, Banks will not be shut across the country but in these cities: New Delhi, Raipur, Ahmedabad, Aizawl, Belapur, Kanpur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Bangalore, Bhopal, Chennai, Jaipur, Nagpur, and Ranchi, etc. Meanwhile, all public institutions such as schools, government offices, schools, and post offices will remain closed in these states.
Banks To Remain Shut In These Cities
Banks will not be shut in these cities: Gangtok, Guwahati, Andhra Pradesh, Kochi, Kohima, Panaji, PatnaTelangana, Agartala, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Imphal, Itanagar, Jammu, Shillong, Shimla, Srinagar, and Thiruvananthapuram. While people will be unable to access the physical branches, they can still use net banking, ATMs, or UPI for transactions. Customers and businesses are recommended to check with their regional branches and plan transactions accordingly.
