LPG price hike: On Sunday, the cost of commercial LPG cylinders increased by Rs 25 per cylinder. As a result of the price increase, 19 kg of commercial cooking gas will now cost Rs 1,769 in Delhi. The price increase will take effect as of right now. Domestic LPG cylinder costs have not changed.
The latest price increase won’t affect family kitchens, but eating out will become more expensive soon as hotels and restaurants pay more for cooking gas.
LPG prices in major cities after the most recent price increase:
Delhi: Rs1,768 per cylinder
Chennai: Rs 17 for each cylinder
Mumbai: Rs 1721 per cylinder
Kolkata: Rs. 1870 per cylinder
Prices of domestic LPG cylinders
Delhi: Rs 1053 per cylinder
Mumbai: Rs 1052.5 per cylinder
Chennai: Rs 1068.5 per cylinder
Kolkata: Rs 1079 per cylinder
On July 6, 2022, the cost of residential cylinders was previously increased. The rates increased by a total of Rs 153.5 in four price increases between March and July of last year.
Congress takes a pot shot over LPG price hike ‘New Year’s gift’
Taking a pot shot at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led central government, Congress slammed the price hike and termed it as a new year’s gift from the government. It further claimed that the price rise on commercial cylinders is just the beginning and more is yet to come.
Prices were hiked four times during last year. These oil marketing companies, for the first time in the year had increased domestic gas prices by Rs 50 in March 2022, and consequently raised it by Rs 50 and Rs 3.50 in May. Finally, it hiked the prices of prices of domestic cylinder by Rs 50 in July last year.
