New Delhi: You may remember that during his Independence Day speech on August 15, Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged farmers to reduce their dependence on chemical fertilisers. He appealed to the farmers to adopt natural farming practices.

PM Modi had said, ‘Natural farming, chemical-free farming can give strength to the country’s goal of becoming self-reliant.’ While addressing the Natural Farming Conclave in July this year, PM Modi reminded the farmers that natural farming is the key to prosperity. Along with being a means, there is also respect and service to Mother Earth.

Work is being done on bringing policy related to natural farming

This shows that the central government is working on bringing a policy related to natural farming and now according to various reports, it is soon ready to promote the Pradhan Mantri-Alternative Nutrient and Agricultural Management (PM-PRANAM) scheme. The objective of the PM-PRANAM scheme is to discourage the use of chemical fertilizers and promote sustainable farming practices.
