Jiostar announced the launch of the new OTT platform “JioHotstar”—a” combination of JioCinema and Disney+ Hotstar—on Friday early morning. In JioHotstar, users can access sports, entertainment, and more in one place without switching the application again and again.
About JioHotstar
The new OTT will provide approximately three lakh hours of entertainment for more than 50 crore users, said the company in a press statement. The company is also merging their subscribers on one platform.
Speaking on the launch of JioHotstar, Kiran Mani, CEO, Digital, JioStar, said, “At the core of JioHotstar is a powerful vision—to make premium entertainment truly accessible to all Indians. Our promise of infinite possibilities ensures that entertainment is no longer a privilege but a shared experience for all. By integrating AI-driven recommendations and offering streaming in over 19 languages, we are personalising content like never before.”
New Plans Introduced For JioHotstar
JioHotstar will soon replace the existing subscription plans with new ones. The old JioCinema premium subscription (₹29/month) was discontinued last week, raising expectations that the new platform would introduce different subscription plans and slabs. While JioStar has not yet elaborated on these plans, the press release mentions “compelling subscription plans tailored to diverse audience needs, starting at ₹149/quarter.” Existing subscribers of JioCinema and Disney+ Hotstar will be able to seamlessly migrate and activate their JioHotstar subscriptions, the press release further informs.
