ITR Verification Deadline: After filing the Income Tax Return (ITR), the next step is to get it verified. As of December 31, 2022, the ITR verification deadline has passed for those who file belated income tax returns (ITR). However, those who have filed belated or revised ITIR till December 31 have time to verify till January 31, 2022.
Earlier, the Income Tax Department allowed 120 days to e-verify. However, if you want to verify now, you have time till January 30, 2023.

Why is ITR verification necessary?
After filing ITR, whether offline or online, it is an important task to verify it. If not verified, the ITR cannot be considered as valid and will not be processed by the department. As a result, taxpayers will not get any refund.

What are the ways to e-verify ITR?
I-T department provides five platforms to verify ITR. These include Net Banking, Bank ATM, Aadhaar, Bank Account and Demat Account.
You can choose any one of the following modes available for e-Verification:
- Digital Signature Certificate
- Aadhaar OTP
- Electronic Verification Code (using bank account / demat account)
- Electronic Verification Code (using Bank ATM – offline method)
- Net Banking
Income tax department has streamlined the process to verify the ITR filling online. Earlier, the verification was done by post. But today e-verification is the easiest mode to verify the ITR filing.
