The leading IT giant Infosys has laid off 700 employees after they failed to clear internal assessments. According to Nascent Information Technology Employees Senate (NITES), which works for the welfare of IT and ITES organisations, the 700 recruits joined the company in October 2024.
A report published in The Economic Times mentioned that the NITES termed the move as unethical while alleging that the IT giant is forcefully terminating approximately 700 employees who joined in the month of October 2024.
On the other hand, Infosys claims that the number is around 350. It is reportedly said that the employees have been terminated after failing internal assessments despite three attempts to clear it.
The ET reports that 400 employees were summoned in batches and they were handed over an ultimatum letter after failing in the internal assessments in all three attempts.
The employees alleged that the company had changed the syllabus during the process.
Infosys said that the failed employees cannot be continued with the organisation as the clause is mentioned in the contract and the practice has been in continuation for the last two decades.
The employees had received training at Mysusru campus. Most of the affected employees are of the 2022 engineering batch.
