iPhone Dreams In UP? Foxconn Eyes 300 Acres Of Land In Greater Noida, Says Report

Apple and Foxconn are diversifying their supply chain to India to mitigate the impact of recent announcement of tariffs by the US President Donald Trump on Chinese imports.

Apple supplier and iPhone maker Foxconn is eying to set up its first facility in North India. According to a report by “The Economic Times”, the company is planning to acquire around 300 acres of land near the Yamuna Expressway in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh.

This proposed plant in Greater Noida could be larger than the Foxconn’s upcoming facility in Bengaluru, which is anticipated to become Foxconn’s second-largest globally, said the report. Moreover, this new facility would be the first Foxconn facility in North India.

Apple and Foxconn are diversifying their supply chain to India to mitigate the impact of recent announcement of tariffs by the US President Donald Trump on Chinese imports. Moreover, this strategic shift aims to leverage India’s growing manufacturing capabilities, especially in the electronics sector.

According to the report, it is not yet finalized that what will be manufactured in this facility. The report stated that the discussions with the government are ‘ongoing’, in this regard.

Moreover, the land parcel is anticipated to be located near HCL-Foxconn’s existing 50-acre semiconductor assembly facility, read the report.

The state government had allotted land for this plant near the Jewar airport. In March, several reports said that the government was in the final stages of approving the next batch of semiconductor project proposals under the first phase of the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM).
