It offers a maximum deposit facility of up to Rs 2 lakh in the name of women or girls for two years at a fixed interest rate. The minimum deposit amount under this scheme is Rs1,000 and the maximum deposit amount is Rs.2 lakh.
Mahila Samman Savings Certificate account’s maturity period is two years, and the fixed interest rate for the scheme is 7.5% per annum.
Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana: Launched as a part of the “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao” mission, this SSY accounts can be opened by the parents of a newborn girl child. The scheme is for 15 years, and can be extended up to 5 years at a time. The scheme offers the interest rate of 8.2%, which is fully exempt from tax under section 80C.
