According to a report by the Ministry of Communications, the total number of internet subscribers in India jumped 3.48 per cent in the quarter, rising from 96.91 crore in March 2025 to 100.28 crore by June. The report was released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India in its ‘Indian Telecom Services Performance Indicator Report’. Among these over 100 crore subscribers, 4.47 crore had wired internet connections, while 95.81 crore had wireless connections.

- The surge reflects an increase of 3.48 per cent over the previous quarter
- Out of the total subscribers, 2.31 crore are narrowband subscribers
- 97.97 crore are broadband subscribers
- 4.47 crore are subscribers with wired internet services, while 95.81 crore subscribers use wireless internet services.
- In terms of demographics, urban internet subscribers number around 57.94 crore
- Rural internet subscribers are not far behind at 42.33 crore
Data, Revenue, Usage Parameters
The average monthly revenue per wireless user (ARPU) is ₹186.62, and each wireless subscriber uses about 16.76 hours (1006 minutes) per month. The average wireless data usage per subscriber each month is 24.01 GB, where the average revenue per GB of wireless data is ₹8.51. By adding 71.20 lakh subscribers during the quarter, the total wireless (mobile + 5G FWA) subscriber base increased from 116 crore at the end of Mar-25 to 117 crore at the end of Jun-25. This recorded a growth rate of 0.61 per cent over the previous quarter.
For mobile subscribers alone, 60 lakh were added in the quarter, which increased the base from 115 crore in March 2025 to 116 crore in June 2025. The mobile subscriber growth rate for the quarter was recorded 0.52%.
