India’s Billionaires now have more money than the whole economy of Saudi Arabia. India is the third country in the world with the most billionaires, after the United States and China.
India now has 284 billionaires, 13 more than last year, according to the Hurun Global Rich List. Their combined wealth is huge that makes it bigger than some countries economy.
The total wealth of India’s billionaires is Rs 98 lakh crore, almost one-third of India’s entire GDP. This is more than Saudi Arabia’s economy, which the World Bank says is around Rs 91.35 lakh crore ($1,067,582.93 million), based on the exchange rate of 1 USD = Rs 85.59..
India’s Billionaire Count Hits 284 in 2025
India now has 284 billionaires, 13 more than last year, according to Hurun’s Global Rich List. Their combined wealth has grown by 10%in the past year, showing the country’s growing economic strength.
Anas Rahman Junaid, founder and chief researcher of Hurun India, shared his thoughts, saying, “The total wealth of Indian billionaires has now crossed the trillion-dollar mark, marking a new time of growth. Importantly, 62% of these billionaires have seen their wealth grow, highlighting the positive economic changes in the country.”
Fluctuations in the Number of Billionaires in India
The number of billionaires in India has changed over the past few years. In 2022, there were 249 billionaires, but this number dropped to 187 in 2023 because of market uncertainties. However, in 2024, the number went up to 271. In 2025, the number of billionaires in India has increased further to 284.
India Ranks Third Globally for Billionaires
India now ranks third in the world for having the most billionaires, after the United States and China. The average age of Indian billionaires is 68, which is slightly higher than the global average of 66. This shows that most Indian billionaires build their wealth later in life compared to billionaires in other countries.
Young Billionaires in India
India’s youngest billionaires in 2025 are Shashank Kumar and Harshil Mathur, co-founders of Razorpay. Both are 34 years old. In comparison, China’s Wang Zelong, aged 29, has the same net worth of Rs 8,643 crore.

Mukesh Ambani’s Wealth Decline
Mukesh Ambani who was once in the top 10 richest people in the world has now been dropped in ranking. His wealth has decreased by Rs 1 lakh crore because of rising debt. However, he is still richest person in India.

World’s Richest People
Elon Musk is the world’s richest person with a net worth of $420 billion, followed by Mark Zuckerberg and Jeff Bezos.

Roshni Nadar Makes History
Roshni Nadar, the Chairperson of HCL Technologies, has made history by becoming the third richest person in India. Her net worth has reached Rs 3.5 Lakh crore, showing the growing influence of women in India’s business world.
