EPFO update: Members of the Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) can now change their name and date of birth (DOB) in EPFO records according to their Aadhaar Card on their own.

Members, according to EPFO information, can do so by visiting the Member Unified Portal. If you want to change your name or date of birth, follow the steps below:

How to Update Aadhaar Card Name and DOB in EPFO Records

  1. Go to the Member Unified Portal.
  2. Type in your UAN, password, and CAPTCHA.
  3. Select Sign-in.
  4. Select Manage, then Modify Basic Details.
  5. Enter your Aadhaar number, name, and DOB. Click the Save/Submit button. Select Yes.
  6. Inform your employer that you want to change your name.

What documents are required for EPF members to change their date of birth?

Any of the following documents can be used to prove your date of birth:

  1. Passport
  2. Any certificate related to school or education.
  3. The Registrar of Births and Deaths issues a birth certificate.
  4. A certificate based on the Central / State Government Organization’s service records.
  5. Any other trustworthy document issued by a government agency.
  6. Aadhaar / e-Aadhaar: The change in date of birth shall be accepted as per Aadhaar / e-Aadhaar upto a maximum range of plus or minus three years of the date of birth recorded earlier with EPFO.
  7. In the absence of the above-mentioned proof of date of birth, a medical certificate issued by a Civil Surgeon after a medical examination of the member and supported by an affidavit on oath by the member duly authenticated by a competent court.
