Scrap Policy: Nitin Gadkari, the minister of transport for the union, has announced that any government vehicle older than 15 years old will be demolished, and state governments have been handed a policy in this regard, the Mirror Now reported.
He claimed that state governments had been instructed to remove all automobiles older than 15 from the road. All types of vehicles, such as buses, trucks, and cars, were included. The roadways will be cleared of any outdated automobiles. the government’s war on vehicle scrapping, which it started earlier this year in an effort to reduce pollution.
Nitin Gadkari proposed an important idea to require seatbelt use for all passengers, including those in the back seat, just last month.
According to the car scrappage policy, outdated and unfit vehicles must be removed off the road and replaced with new, contemporary models. The regulation became operative on April 1, 2022.
On October 29, 2018, the Supreme Court prohibited the use of gasoline and diesel automobiles older than ten years and fifteen years in the nation’s capital, even before the announcement of the vehicle scrappage. In 2014, the National Green Tribunal issued an order prohibiting the parking of automobiles older than 15 years in any public space.
