New Delhi: The aviation watchdog DGCA has ordered SpiceJet to send engine oil samples from the entire Q400 fleet, which consists of 14 operational aircraft, to Pratt & Whitney Canada in order to check for the presence of metal and carbon seat particles after a recent incident of smoke in a SpiceJet aircraft cabin.

In order to check for the presence of metal and carbon seal particles, the DGCA has ordered that engine oil samples be periodically taken and forwarded to Pratt & Whitney Canada every 15 days rather than the current 30 days.

Additionally, it mandated the completion of the inspection on three engines, which had been delivered from Standard Aero, Singapore, by Monday night, and the one-time Boroscopic inspection of all operational engines within a week.
