New Delhi: Marking a monumental step, General Electric’s unit of aerospace on June 22 said that the firm signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) in order to manufacture fighter jet engines for Indian Airf Force’s Light Combat Aircraft (LCA)-MK– Tejas.
The declaration arrived in the middle of Prime Minsiter Narendra Modi’s 3-day official visit to the United state at the invitation of President Joe Biden.
“The agreement includes the potential joint production of GE Aerospace’s F414 engines in India, and GE Aerospace continues to work with the US government to receive the necessary export authorisation for this,” The US company stated.
The statement provided by the company demonstrated the MoU with HAL as a “Key Element” as it aims to build up defence cooperation between India and the US.
H Lawrence Culp Jr., Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of GE said, “This is a historic agreement made possible by our longstanding partnership with India and HAL.”
Adding further he said, “We are proud to play a role in advancing President Biden and Prime Minister Modi’s vision of closer coordination between the two nations. Our F414 engines are unmatched and will offer important economic and national security benefits for both countries as we help our customers produce the highest quality engines to meet the needs of their military fleet.”
