New Delhi: Vinod Shantilal Adani, a businessman and the older brother of Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani, has overtaken other Indian residents in terms of wealth. With a net worth of $1.69 trillion, Vinod Shantilal Adani is also the sixth richest Indian on the list, according to the IIFL Wealth Hurun India Rich List 2022,
94 NRIs made the list of wealthiest Indians this year. With a net worth of 1.65 lakh crore, the Hinduja brothers have surpassed Vinod Shantilal Adani to claim the title of second-richest NRI. Out of the NRIs, 48 Americans appeared on the list.
The richest NRI in the US is Jay Chaudhry, who has a net worth of 70,000 crore.
Vinod Shantilal Adani manages trade companies in Singapore, Dubai, and Jakarta while residing in Dubai. In 1976, he established a textile company in Mumbai, which he later expanded to Singapore. After relocating to Dubai in 1994, Gautam Adani’s older brother expanded his firm into the Middle East.
The businessman’s wealth increased by 37,400 crore (or 28 percent) in the previous year. This indicates that Vinod Shantilal Adani made close to 102 crore on average every single day of the previous year. Additionally, he moved up two spots in India’s top 10 wealthiest list from his previous position of ninth to sixth.
In the last five years, Vinod Shantilal Adani’s wealth has soared by 850 percent. While Vinod Shantilal Adani and family had a 9.5-fold increase in wealth in five years, Gautam Adani and family saw a 15.4-fold increase.
With a net worth of 10,94,400 crore, Gautam Adani topped the Hurun India Rich List 2022 for the first time. According to the list, he added 1,600 crore per day over the previous year.
