Gautam Adani, the chairman of Adani Group, has turned 62 today and is the second richest person in Asia with a net worth of $106 billion. His business empire spans from household kitchens to ports.

Born on June 24, 1962, in Gujarat, Gautam Adani did not inherit his business and built his vast empire through his own capabilities. Despite facing several adversities, he is currently Asia’s second richest person. Interestingly, Gautam Adani was once kidnapped, a fact he has shared, dating back to the 1990s.

“It’s Best to Forget Bad Times…”

Gautam Adani often mentions that there’s no need to worry about things beyond one’s control, a principle he works by. He has overcome many adversities, including his kidnapping. In a recent interview, Adani shared the harrowing story of his abduction. According to him, he has had two near-death experiences in his life.

Talking about his kidnapping, Adani said, “It’s best to forget bad times. I adapt to every situation. The day after I was kidnapped, I was released. But even on the night of the kidnapping, I slept peacefully because there’s no point in worrying about things beyond your control.” Adani believes one shouldn’t worry about things out of their hands as destiny will take its course. His kidnapping in 1997 shocked everyone.

Remembering the Night of 26/11:

Adani also recalled another near-death experience during the terrorist attacks in Mumbai on November 26, 2008. He was at the Taj Hotel during the attack and survived the ordeal. He was at the hotel for dinner with a friend from Dubai when terrorists began shooting. He witnessed the terror up close but remained calm, knowing panic wouldn’t help.

Describing the event, Adani mentioned that just as he was about to leave after dinner, the attack began, and he spent the night in terror. If he had left a few minutes earlier, things could have turned out worse. He was trapped in the hotel all night, and staff led him to safety via a back route. It was only after 7 AM, under full commando protection, that they managed to escape.
