Ganesh Chaturthi, also known as Vinayaka Chaturthi is a Hindu festival, marking the birthday of Lord Ganesha. People celebrate the festival by installing Lord Ganesha’s murtis (idols) privately in their homes and publicly in grand pandals. Observances include the chanting of Vedic hymns along with prayers and vrata (fasting). Offerings and prasada are distributed from the pandal to the community after the daily prayers.
