Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs) had withdrawn a net amount of Rs 34,574 crore in February and Rs 78,027 crore in January 2025. With this, the total outflow by these Investors in 2025 stood at Rs 1,44,320 crore so far.

These investors typically focus on companies with strong growth potential, which can decrease demand for other shares. As a result, their stock prices may fall, and the overall market might experience a fall in performance.
Additionally, the outflow of foreign investors negatively diverse perspectives and investment strategies. Meanwhile, a surge in investment from outside the nation may strengthen the Indian Rupee, and the outflow could downgrade its value as these investors’ demand for Rupees to purchase Indian stocks increases. It’s an unsaid law that when the Rupee weakens, imports become expensive.
