The world’s richest person Elon Musk’s Tesla will enter the Indian market. According to media reports, Tesla will start selling cars in April. The company is planning to sell Berlin-made imported electric cars in India. The company may offer prices starting at Rs 21 lakh. Tesla has shortlisted Mumbai’s BKC and Delhi’s Aerocity to open showrooms.
According to Reuters reports, Tesla has decided to get a space on lease for a showroom in Delhi’s Aerocity. Similarly, the company has chosen a place for a showroom near the airport in Bandra-Kurla Complex.
Recently, Elon Musk met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Washington DC. It was anticipated that Tesla would soon start its operations in India. Now, the company has given an advertisement for the recruitment of staff and officials.
Tesla had objected to India’s tariff. Now, the government has reduced the tariff on expensive cars from 100% to 70%. The government will also offer a rebate on import duty to those companies that will invest a minimum of $50 crore in establishing a manufacturing establishment in the nation. The move has been taken to encourage companies like Tesla. In 2021, Musk said that the company would set up a manufacturing unit in India If the company receives enthusiastic results in the imported car category.
