Scammers try to target users by claiming to send messages from banking or government departments. In this, their aim is to steal money and get personal details of WhatsApp users by trapping the target in their talk.

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Assam has warned WhatsApp users about this. Assam CID has issued a public advisory regarding this. Online fraudsters use the profile photo and name of a well-known officer.
