LPG cylinders to cost less from today: Price cut by ₹5 – Check cooking gas rates in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata

LPG Price Cut: The LPG cylinders used for commercial purposes will now be available at a cheaper rate. Starting Saturday, November 1, state-run oil marketing companies (OMCs) reduced the price of commercial cooking gas, making it more affordable for restaurants, hotels, and catering services that rely heavily on LPG for their daily operations.

New Price of LPG Cylinders

LPG Price Cut: As the new rates kicks in, the cost of 19 kg gas cylinders have become cheaper in different parts of the country. The retail price of a 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder in Delhi is ₹1590.50. According to data available on Indian Oil Corporation website, the previous price of 19 Kg commercial LPG gas was ₹1595.50. It states that the price is lowered by ₹5 per 19-kg commercial LPG.

LPG Cylinder price in Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata

All the metros saw varying reductions in rates. With the highest drop of ₹6.50 per cylinder among the metros, the charge in Kolkata will now be ₹1,694 per cylinder. Chennai will now charge ₹ 1,750 (down ₹4.50), while Mumbai now charges ₹1,542 (down ₹5). However, domestic LPG prices have not changed and are the same in every city.

When was the last price cut?

LPG Price Cut: In the past few months, oil marketing companies have repeatedly reduced commercial LPG cylinder prices. Since April, rates have been cut several times — by Rs 24 in June, Rs 58.50 in July, Rs 33.50 in August, and Rs 51.50 in September — bringing the Delhi price down to Rs 1,580. Additionally, the Centre announced 2.5 million free LPG connections under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana for the festive season.

What led to the price cut?

LPG Price Cut: In August, the Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved LPG subsidy to oil marketing companies (OMCs), including Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum, amounting to ₹30,000 crore. This move is one of the major reasons for price cut in LPG cylinders. Cabinet decision was to ensure affordable LPG amid the current geopolitical situation. It targeted middle class households.
