New Delhi: In addition to relaxing 588 rules during the ongoing special cleanliness campaign, the Center has made Rs 254.21 crore from scrap disposal, according to Union minister Jitendra Singh.

He said that 37.19 lakh square feet of space has been released and 40 lakh files have been evaluated.

According to Singh, the Minister of State for Personnel, there is a lot of enthusiasm inside the departments and ministries for institutionalising swachhata and reducing the backlog.

The sale of scrap has generated a profit of Rs 254.21 crore thus far. He told the reporters at his official residence in this location that a total of 588 regulations had been relaxed.

According to Singh, the campaign has changed people’s behaviours and stimulated creativity in governance.

He stated that 40.52 lakh files, comprising electronic files and physical files, were inspected at 68,363 Swachhata campaign sites.

The minister assessed the special campaign 2.0’s third week of implementation in all Indian government offices and declared that between October 2 and October 25, 2022, great progress had been made.

3,20,152 public complaints have been resolved, 37.19 lakh square feet of space have been freed up, and 5,416 MP referrals have also been handled, he claimed.

In its three weeks, the campaign, which runs from October 2 to October 31, has grown significantly in scope and magnitude. Thousands of officials and civilians have joined forces to build a movement for swachhata in government offices.

Government of India secretaries, cabinet ministers, and ministers of state took part in the special campaign 2.0 and provided direction and leadership for its execution.

According to V Srinivas, secretary of the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), there has been a lot of formal government participation in the campaign.

The results of the cleanliness programme are evident. Rules and procedures that can be simplified have already been identified. According to him, the campaign has so far resulted in a lot of beneficial developments.

Apurva Chandra, the secretary of information and broadcasting, who was also present at the press conference, discussed more campaign-related efforts being carried out in his office.

In an interview with PTI, he stated that by year’s end, an electronic billing system (e-billing) would be in place to manage the grant of government advertisements to newspapers and their billing.

To assure this cleanliness campaign’s overwhelming success, Himanshu Pathak, secretary of the Department of Agriculture Research and Education (DARE), advised expanding it to include villages.

Pathak argued that rather than burning crop leftovers, farmers should use them to make money.

He claimed that saving crop waste and building wealth would help to improve soil fertility and crop growth.
