EPFO extends deadline for EPS' applicants to July 11.

Big news for Pensioners:  The Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has announced the launch of a few online services on the microblogging website Twitter. The purpose of this is to allow customers to utilise these services while relaxing in their own homes. The newly introduced effort will be especially beneficial to retirees.

Pension claims can be submitted online (through the UMANG app or EPFO member portal).

Viewing a pension passbook online.

pension payment order (PPO) download from digi-locker.

submission of a digital life certificate using a mobile app from home.

Big news for Pensioners: UMANG App DETAILS

The UMANG app was created by the National e-Governance Division (NeGD) and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) to promote mobile governance in India. All Indian citizens have access to a single platform through UMANG to all pan-Indian e-Gov services, including those offered by central and local governments as well as other services targeted at citizens.

The pensionable salary cap was increased by EPS revision of August 22, 2014, from Rs. 6,500 to Rs. 15,000 per month, and members were permitted to contribute 8.33 percent of their actual wage (if it exceeded the limit) for EPS with their employers. On September 1, 2014, it provided all EPS members six months to choose the updated plan.

EPFO increases pension for these qualified consumers

  • Pensioners who had paid contributions under Section 26(6) of the EPF Plan while working for wages greater than Rs. 5000 or Rs. 6500.
  • 95 exercised a joint option as a member of EPS in accordance with para. 11(3) of the pre-amendment plan.
  • The PF authorities rejected his request to utilise this option.
