Bank Holidays May 2023: April will end with this Sunday and May is approaching. May is the second month of the financial year 2023-24. Every month all banks are closed according to the holiday list of RBI. As soon as the first month of the financial year 2023-24 ends, the Reserve Bank of India has released the list of bank holidays for the month of May. Banks play a very important role in the lives of common people. Facilitating money transactions, receiving demand drafts, and depositing checks are a number of activities for which many people visit the bank on a daily basis.

When banks are closed on holidays, many people are left with important work that cannot be completed. Thus, for people to do their work in advance or not to go to the bank on the holiday, we are providing the bank holiday list for May 2023.

Festivals, anniversaries and other occasions in May 2023, including Saturdays and Sundays. Due to all this banks will remain closed for a total of 12 days. The list of bank holidays varies from state to state. That’s why we are providing the complete list of holidays state wise.

List of bank holidays in May 2023

May 1, 2023: Banks will remain closed in Belapur, Bengaluru, Chennai, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kochi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Nagpur, Panaji, Patna and Trivandrum on account of Maharashtra Day/May Day.

May 5, 2023: Due to Buddha Purnima, banks will remain closed in the following places: Agartala, Aizawl, Belapur, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Jammu, Kanpur, Kolkata, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Raipur, Ranchi, Shimla and Srinagar.

May 7, 2023: Due to Sunday, banks will remain closed across the country.

9 May 2023: Banks will remain closed in Kolkata on account of Rabindranath Tagore’s birth anniversary.

May 13, 2023: Due to being the second Saturday across the country, banks will remain closed.

14 May 2023: Banks will remain closed due to Sunday.

May 16, 2023: Banks will remain closed in Sikkim on account of Foundation Day.

May 21, 2023: Due to Sunday, there will be a holiday in banks.

22 May 2023: Banks will remain closed in Shimla due to Maharana Pratap Jayanti.

May 24, 2023: Banks will remain closed in Tripura for Kazi Nazrul Islam Jayanti.

May 27, 2023: Banks will remain closed due to the fourth Saturday.

28 May 2023: Due to Sunday, there will be a bank holiday across the country.

When banks are closed on holidays, many important works get stuck, causing inconvenience to the people. In such a situation, you can complete some of your work through mobile or net banking. You can transfer money from one account to another through net banking or mobile banking. Additionally, you can use UPI to transfer money. For cash withdrawal, you can use ATM.
