Banking services across many states and Union Territories will remain suspended on multiple days in December due to a combination of public holidays and weekend closures. As 2025 comes to a close, having information about bank holidays in the last month of the year can help customers plan their financial transactions more effectively.
As per the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) holiday calendar, banks in several states and UTs will be closed for 18 days in December due to regional holidays, in addition to the regular weekend closures. Banks across all states and Union Territories will also remain closed on December 25 in observance of Christmas."All scheduled and non-scheduled banks will observe public holiday on the second and fourth Saturdays," according to RBI notification.

The RBI holiday list for December 2025 also notes that bank branches will be closed on the second and fourth Saturdays, as well as all four Sundays of the month. Since branch services are not available on these holidays, customers are advised to plan their visits according to their bank’s regional holiday calendar. However, online banking services will continue to operate on all bank holidays. Customers can still use services such as UPI payments, net banking, and ATMs.
