Bank Holidays in December 2025: Full List of 19 Days When Banks Will Be Closed

Banks across several states will remain closed on multiple days in December 2025 due to regional holidays, national events, and weekend closures, as per the RBI calendar.

Banking services across many states and Union Territories will remain suspended on multiple days in December due to a combination of public holidays and weekend closures. As 2025 comes to a close, having information about bank holidays in the last month of the year can help customers plan their financial transactions more effectively.

As per the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) holiday calendar, banks in several states and UTs will be closed for 18 days in December due to regional holidays, in addition to the regular weekend closures. Banks across all states and Union Territories will also remain closed on December 25 in observance of Christmas.”All scheduled and non-scheduled banks will observe public holiday on the second and fourth Saturdays,” according to RBI notification.

Bank closed on second and fourth Saturdays

The RBI holiday list for December 2025 also notes that bank branches will be closed on the second and fourth Saturdays, as well as all four Sundays of the month. Since branch services are not available on these holidays, customers are advised to plan their visits according to their bank’s regional holiday calendar. However, online banking services will continue to operate on all bank holidays. Customers can still use services such as UPI payments, net banking, and ATMs.

  • December 1 – State Inauguration Day / Indigenous Faith Day: Banks closed in Itanagar and Kohima.
  • December 3 – Feast of St. Francis Xavier: Banks closed in Panaji.
  • December 12 – Death Anniversary of Pa Togan Nengminja Sangma: Banks closed in Shillong.
  • December 18 – Death Anniversary of U SoSo Tham: Banks closed in Shillong.
  • December 19 – Goa Liberation Day: Banks closed in Panaji.
  • December 20 & 22 – Losoong / Namsoong: Banks closed in Gangtok.
  • December 24 – Christmas Eve: Banks closed in Aizawl, Kohima, and Shillong.
  • December 25 – Christmas: Banks closed across all of India.
  • December 26 – Christmas Celebration: Banks closed in Aizawl, Kohima, and Shillong.
  • December 27 – Christmas: Banks closed in Kohima.
  • December 30 – Death Anniversary of U Kiang Nangbah: Banks closed in Shillong.
  • December 31 – New Year’s Eve / Imoinu Iratpa: Banks closed in Aizawl and Imphal.

  • December 7 – Sunday
  • December 13 – Saturday
  • December 14 – Sunday
  • December 21 – Sunday
  • December 27 – Saturday
  • December 28 – Sunday

The Reserve Bank of India publishes the list of bank holidays at the start of every calendar year. According to this schedule, banks stay closed on national holidays, regional festivals, all Sundays, and two Saturdays each month.
