Bank holiday today: Banks are expected to reopen today, October 3; however, in one city, they will remain closed due to Durga Puja. As the nation observed Gandhi Jayanti and Hindus celebrated Dussehra on October 2, 2025, the Reserve Bank of India had mandated a pan-India bank holiday. October 2 also marked the ongoing Durga Puja festivities as well as the Janmotsav of Sri Sri Sankardeva.
This week, all seven days have been bank holidays in some parts of the country as people celebrated festivals including Navratri and Durga Puja, observed Gandhi Jayanti on October 2, and will take weekend leaves.
Banks in India, including the State Bank of India (SBI), are closed on central bank-mandated holidays. This also covers the second and fourth Saturdays of each month, along with all Sundays.
