Traditionally, the date of Diwali is determined as per Amavasya Tithi. However, this time, the Amavasya Tithi falls over two days. The tithi starts on October 20 and continues through October 21, 2025. Most parts of the country celebrated Diwali on October 20. But some regions celebrate Diwali on October 21.

Govardhan Pooja 2025

Govardhana Pooja is celebrated on October 21. Some banks in India are closed for this festival. It is observed a day after Diwali. The festival honors Lord Krishna, who lifted the Govardhan hill to protect the people of Vrindavan from heavy rain and storms sent by Indra.
