Bank holiday: As the nation will celebrate Gandhi Jayanti and Hindus will celebrate the festival of Dussehra on October 2, 2025, the Reserve Bank of India has mandated a Pan-India bank holiday. October 2 also marks the ongoing festivities of Durga Puja as well as the Janmotsav of Sri Sri Sankardeva.
This week, all seven days are bank holidays in some parts of the country as people celebrate festivals including Navratri and Durga Puja, and observe Gandhi Jayanti on October 2, along with weekend leaves.
Banks in India, including the State Bank of India (SBI), are closed on central bank-mandated holidays. This also covers the second and fourth Saturdays of each month, along with all Sundays.
