Ayush secretary Vaidya Rajesh on Thursday said the Indian Ayurved economy is currently valued at $43 billion.
White speaking at the Kerala Health Tourism and Global Ayurveda Summit and Expo 2025, Kotecha said Ayurveda and traditional health care systems are expected to contribute 5 per cent to India’s GDP by 2047. It would be much higher in comparison from the current 1.1 per cent, PTI reported.
As per the press release, the Ayush secretary said investment worth $1.2 billion in Ayurveda and traditional health care segments is already in pipeline.
Pratap Rao Jadhav, Minister of State for Ayush, showered praise on Kerala for its supremacy in Ayurveda and health care system. While Kerala Industries minister P Rajeev highlighted the state government’s efforts to position the state as top choice as global health care destination.
He also put light on integration of Ayurveda with modern medicine to place the state as a holistic wellness hub.
“Kerala’s Ayurveda economy is projected to reach Rs 60,000 crore by 2031 from the current Rs 15,000 crore,” PTI quoted CII Global Ayurveda Summit chairman Dr Sajikumar as saying.
CII Kerala chairman VKC Razak highlighted the importance of healthcare and wellness in the state’s economy, calling the sector “one of its most resilient pillars.”
