Ambedkar Jayanti 2025 Bank Holiday: If you are planning to visit the bank on Monday, here’s something that you should know. You might not be able to withdraw cash, update your passbook or complete important paper work. This is not because of some technical glitch, but the banks across India are observing holiday on Monday, April 14. Banks will remain closed in most states for Dr BR Ambedkar’s birth anniversary. Along with this, some regional New Year festivals are also being celebrated, which will lead to closure of banks in some states.
However, the bank holiday on April 14 will vary from state to state. Therefore, customers are advised to check the status of bank closure in their states.
Banks To Remain Closed In Following States:
Mizoram, Madhya Pradesh, Chandigarh, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Delhi, Chhattisgarh, Meghalaya, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand.
Several states are going to observe New Year festivals like Vishu, Biju, Buisu, Tamil New Year, Maha Vishuva Sankranti, Bohag Bihu, and Cheiraoba. So there is high possibility that bank in the states celebrating these festivals will remain closed.
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has declared a bank holiday on April 14.
Cities Where Banks Will Remain Closed:
Mumbai, Nagpur, Panaji, Patna, Ranchi, Srinagar, Agartala, Ahmedabad, Aizawl, Belapur, Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Dehradun, Gangtok, Guwahati, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Imphal, Itanagar, Jaipur, Jammu, Kanpur, Kochi, Kolkata, Lucknow, and Thiruvananthapuram.
However, bank branches will remain in cities like Kohima, Bhopal, Raipur, Shillong, Shimla, and New Delhi.
B.R. Ambedkar Jayanti is observed on April 14th every year. It marks the birth anniversary of Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar, the principal architect of the Indian Constitution, social reformer, economist, and champion of equality.
