Amazon in an announcement in March, revealed its plans to cut jobs of around 9000 employees from its cloud services, advertising, and Twitch units as recession emerges.
Announcement
In March, Amazon CEO Andy Jassy via a memo made the announcements mere weeks after the firm laid off around 18,000 employees. Jassy had said about the firm adding a considerable amount of staff in the past few years, however, this uncertain economy is making them choose cost and headcount cuts, people close to the matter told the Economic Times.
“Given the uncertain economy in which we reside, and the uncertainty that exists in the near future, we have chosen to be more streamlined in our costs and headcount,” he had said in his memo, published later to Amazon’s corporate blog.
At the time of April, the e-commerce platform giant laid off about 100 employees from its video-game divisions to trim the costs, Affecting workers at Prime gaming, game growth along with the studio of San Diego.
Previously, in April the reports also revealed that Aamzon.com inc is cutting down the number of shares it plans to give employees which is a part of their 2025 compensation,
