Natural Gas: After the government changed the natural gas pricing formula, companies have started cutting the prices of CNG and PNG. Under this, Adani Total Gas, a company of Adani Group, has cut the price of CNG by Rs 8.13 per kg. At the same time, the price of Adani Total’s PNG has decreased by Rs 5.06 per cubic centimetre. These new prices have come into effect today.

Earlier, Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL), a subsidiary of Gail India, had also cut the prices of CNG and PNG. Mahanagar Gas has announced a reduction in the prices of CNG and PNG by Rs 8 per kg and domestic piped cooking gas by Rs 5.

On Thursday, the Union Cabinet approved the new structure by amending the formula for fixing the price of natural gas. Along with this, a ceiling has also been finalised on the prices of CNG and piped cooking gas. Union Minister Anurag Thakur had told that with this decision, the prices of CNG and PNG will be reduced by 10 per cent. CNG and PNG rates are to increase by up to 80 per cent in a year till August 2022. Their prices are fixed on the basis of international energy prices.
