New Delhi: Citing a report of ‘The Morning Context’,  Trinamool Congress (TMC) Member of Parliament Mahua Moitra hit out on Gautam Adani and market regulators.

In a tweet, she shared a report of ‘The Morning Context’ and claimed that Adani group did not own Ambuja Cements and ACC. She also questioned the responsibilities of the Security and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) and the Competition Commission of India (CCI).

“The Adani group does not own Ambuja Cements and ACC” – Deception of the highest order. One cannot make this stuff up. @SEBI_Indiaand @CCI_India would have provided all details,” Mahua said in a tweet.

The Morning Contex, in a report published on March 13, claimed that the company that Adani used, in order to acquire the shares of Ambuja Cements and ACC, did not ‘actually’ belong to him. The company in question was a Mauritius-based firm, which was owned indirectly by Gautam Adani’s brother Vinod Adani.

In September last year, the Adani group announced that it would acquire Ambuja Cements and ACC in a deal of 6.4 billion dollars (Rs 5,28,08,64,00,000).

According to The Morning Contex report, Adani group used Endeavour Trade and Investment Ltd as a special purpose vehicle to buy the two big cement companies from Holcim Group, a Switzerland-based company.

The Morning Context took reference to the Final offer letter issued by Ambuja Cements to report the matter.

Endeavour Trade and Investment Ltd is a Mauritius-based company owned by Adani’s brother Vinod Adani, The Morning Context Report claimed.

Mahua Moitra has been very vocal against Gautam Adani and his relationship with the incumbent BJP government since the report of Hindenburg was published.

In a separate tweet, she accused the Adani group and their PR team of sending out a smear campaign on Whatsapp against her.

“To Adani Group & their PR team sending out smear campaigns against me on Whatsapp- hide a better agency with better detective skills. I Need more than a Bhai’s Club to take me on, buddies,” she said in a tweet.

A Shift Towards BJP's Aggressive Hindutva Amid Opposition's Leadership Crisis

The Maharashtra election may further push the Congress down as it has lost the election at a time when it needed a win most desperately. Though the Congress succeeded in pushing the BJP to a corner and stopping it at less than a majority on its own, it failed to make any headway further.
