If you do not link your Aadhaar cards to your PAN cards, your PAN will be deactivated, according to CBDT. So you’ve got until March 31st. PAN will no longer work for you as of April 1, 2023.
However, there are some exceptions to this rule. According to a notification released by the Finance Ministry in 2017, four groups are exempt from the PAN-Aadhaar linking rule.
1. Residents of the north-eastern states of Assam, Meghalaya and Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir
2. A non-resident as per the Income-tax Act of 1961
3. Of the age of 80 years or more at any time during the previous year
4. Not a citizen of India
