8th Pay Commission: Will Central Govt Employees’ Salary Jump 186% To Rs 51,480?

Recent statement by Shiv Gopal Mishra, secretary of the staff side of the National Council of Joint Consultative Machinery (NC-JCM), sparked the debate over the 186% pay hike for the central government employees.

8th Pay Commission

The formation of the 8th Central Pay Commission is a subject of widespread speculation among the central government employees across the country. The Union Finance Ministry has recently stated in the Rajya Sabha that it has no intention to set up a new Pay Commission as of now. The clarification cause a widespread disappointment in the minds of over 1 crore central government employees and pensioners.

Initially, speculators thought the government would announce the formation of the new Pay Commission in the February 2025 budget. However, the government’s recent clarification that put the end on the anticipations, at least for now. The Confederation of Central Government Employees recently urged the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a letter, to establish a new Pay Commission as soon as possible.
