7th Pay Commission: Nearly 1.75 crore employees and pensioners will get direct benefits from the increase in DA. Their long wait for the hike in Dearness Allowance and Dearness Relief is just about to end. Earlier, at the time of Holi this year, the government had increased the DA by 4 per cent. After which DA increased from 38 to 42 per cent. Now if there is another 4 per cent increase in dearness allowance then it will become 46 per cent.
4% per cent DA hike
It is expected that there may be an increase of 4 per cent in the dearness allowance. The Central Government reviews the DA-DR of its employees and pensioners twice a year in January and July based on AICPI index data released by the Ministry of Labour and hikes DA and DR based on AICPI index data.
Increased Salary
If the dearness allowance of central employees is increased by 4 per cent (7th Pay Commission), then the DA of employees with a basic salary of Rs 18,000 can be increased by Rs 720 per month and Rs 8,640 annually. While the cabinet secretary level officers whose basic salary is Rs 56,900 per month can get the benefit of Rs 2276 per month and Rs 27 thousand 312 annually.
Calculation on minimum salary
Basic salary =Rs 18,000
New DA (46%) =Rs 8,280 per month
Current DA (42%) =Rs 7,560 per month
Increased DA = Rs 720 per month
Annual Increase in salary 720X12= Rs 8,640
Calculation on maximum salary
Basic salary =Rs 56,900
New DA (46%) =Rs 26,174 per month
Current DA (42%)= Rs23,898 per month
Increased DA (26,174-23,898) = Rs 2,276 per month
Increase in annual salary Rs 2276X12 = Rs 27312
