7th Pay Commission: After the increase in Dearness Allowance before Diwali, central government employees are hoping for more good news. They are now waiting to hear about the increase in the fitment factor and the increase in the HRA.

Meanwhile, preliminary indications suggest that Central Government employees will soon receive their DA arrears, which date back 18 months. For some time, government employees have been demanding DA back pay.

According to multiple reports, the 18-month DA arrears would be paid in three instalments to government employees. Notably, due to the COVID pandemic, government employees have not received their 18-month DA arrears from January 2020 to June 2021.

For the past two years, the cabinet has been focusing on the DA arrears issue. According to media reports, DA arrears for Level 3 employees are expected to range between Rs. 11,880 and Rs. 37,554, while those for Level 13 or Level 14 employees are expected to range between Rs. 1,44,200 and Rs. 2,18,200. If the negotiations with the administration are successful, the DA arrears of government employees will also change.

4% increase in Dearness Allowance

The Center increased the Dearness Allowance for Central Government employees by 4% in September. The DA was raised from 34% to 38%. Prior to January 20, 2022, the Dearness Allowance for government employees was 31%; it was then increased to 34%.
