Hurun Report, a leading research, luxury publishing, and events group has released its list of top Indian billionaires in its report titled ‘2024 Hurun India Rich List.’ Since the debut of this list thirteen years ago, for the first time, the number of billionaires has crossed the mark of 300. India now has 334 USD billionaires.
Adani tops rich list, SRK debuts
In the list, Gautam Adani has secured the top position with a net worth of Rs. 1,161,800 crores followed by Mukesh Ambani net worth Rs. 1,014,700 who maintained the top spot in the previous years. Among the Bollywood celebrities, Shah Rukh Khan has made the debut on the list with a wealth of Rs. 7,300 crores.
The 2024 Hurun India Rich List reveals that India minted a new billionaire approximately every five days last year, highlighting the country’s burgeoning wealth creation. This year’s report underscores India’s rapid economic growth, contrasting sharply with China’s 25% decline in billionaires, as India saw a 29% increase, reaching a record 334 billionaires.
According to Anas Rahman Junaid, Founder and Chief Researcher of Hurun India, ‘India is emerging as Asia’s wealth creation engine!’ The significant rise in the number of billionaires in India underscores a period of robust economic expansion and increased wealth accumulation.

Top positions and wealth overview
In the 2024 Hurun India Rich List, Mukesh Ambani, with a wealth of ₹1,014,700 crore, holds the second position, followed by Shiv Nadar and his family of HCL Technologies, who are in third place with ₹314,000 crore. Cyrus S. Poonawalla, the head of Serum Institute of India, ranks fourth, with Dilip Shanghvi of Sun Pharmaceutical Industries rounding out the top five.
Over the past five years, six individuals have consistently remained in the top ten of the list Gautam Adani & family, Mukesh Ambani & family, Shiv Nadar, Cyrus S. Poonawalla & family, Gopichand Hinduja & family, and Radhakishan Damani & family. This consistency reflects their sustained economic influence and success.
Youngest and new entrants
The youngest billionaire on the 2024 list is Kaivalya Vohra, co-founder of Zepto, a $5 billion quick commerce startup, at just 21 years old. His co-founder, Aadit Palicha, who is 22, is the second youngest billionaire on the list. Their inclusion highlights the rise of young entrepreneurs in India’s dynamic startup ecosystem.
Additionally, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan made his debut on the Hurun India Rich List this year. Khan’s entry is largely attributed to the rising value of his stake in the IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders. Notably, Hurun India Rich List members from the entertainment industry saw an addition of ₹40,500 crore in just one year, with seven new entrants marking the entertainment sector’s growing wealth.
