Ever since Volkswagen stepped into the Indian market, they have been able to set new precedents with their supreme quality, fit and finish. The brand has always been able to provide their users with an optimum blend of opulence and performance. To maintain their presence in the market with such products, the brand recently announced that they would be bringing in a consignment of Volkswagen Golf GTR to India for enthusiasts who seek the ultimate driving pleasure. The car would be brought too India under the CBU import route hence, Volkswagen would not have to homologate the vehicle in India.
Volkswagen opened the bookings for the vehicle in India on May 5, 2025 and as per the reports over the internet the first batch of 150 units have been fully booked. To qualify for the booking each user would have had to qualify and score a 4 out of 5 based on scrutiny conducted by Volkswagen and then they would receive a pre -booking link limited to one entry per mobile number. Since these are pre launch bookings there could be cancellations after the prices are announced, giving other users a chance towards the allocation.
Golf Gti Engine and Gearbox
The Volkswagen Golf Gti would be powered by a 2- litre TSI engine generating an impressive 265 Hp and 370 Nm of peak torque. This would be one of the most powerful Volkswagen to ever be launched in India. The car would have a 7 speed dual clutch automatic gearbox that sends power to the front wheels through an electronically controlled front axle differential lock. The Golf Gti would be able to have a top speed of around 250 KPH and a 0 to a 100 KPH time of juts 5.9 seconds.

As per reports by Autocar the Golf Gti on road price is expected to be around Rs 60 Lakh, the official announcement would take place later this month and deliveries would commence further in June from select dealerships across India.
