Mr. Osamu Suzuki, the former Chairman of Suzuki, passed away at the age of 94. The ex-chairman of Suzuki died of Malignant Lymphoma on December 25. The funeral of Mr Osamu was held as per his last wishes as was told to the press by his Son Toshihiro Suzuki. He stated that-
“the funeral was held privately with close family members until the ashes were interred. We strictly decline condolence ceremonies, perfumes, flowers, condolence telegrams, etc.”
Osamu announced his retirement in 2021 at the age of 91. He joined the Suzuki Motor in the year 1958 and progressed his way to become the company president in 1978 and further progressed to handle the responsibilities of the chairman role as well. He became the longest serving President of the company with his 28 year old period in office.
It was in the year 2015 Suzuki handed over the presidency of the global company to his Son. Osamu Suzuki stepped down as the chairman of the company after a fuel economy misstatement issue.
It was during his reign, Suzuki (brand) gained the prowess of being one of the top compact car manufacturer. It was Osamu Suzuki Himself who had spearheaded the decision of the company to enter the Indian market and diversify its offerings to different subsets In 1983. His decisions as well as mentorship led the company to some of the highest echelons ever.
Who Was Osamu Suzuki?
Osamu was the fourth Son born in a farming family and he aspired to be a politician. The hardworking nature of Osamu led him to work in junior high school as a teacher as well as a Night Guard while completing his college degree at the Chua University in Tokyo. Osamu also worked in a bank before joining Suzuki after his marriage.
It was his marriage to Shoko Suzuki that led him into managing Suzuki, he married the Granddaughter of Michio Suzuki the founder of Suzuki. Following the Japanese tradition Osamu took the surname of his wife since there were no male heirs to the family Business.
