The Kawasaki Ninja 400 has been discontinued in India in 2024. Are you looking for an equally powerful bike to replace the Kawasaki Ninja 400? The official replacement of this iconic bike in India is Kawasaki Ninja 500. Learn more about it in detail.

Kawasaki Ninja 400

Kawasaki India has finally announced the discontinuation of the Kawasaki Ninja 400 bike in India. In fact, this model was discontinued in the international market sometime back. Even after that, Kawasaki India dragged on till the remaining units of the manufactured Ninja 400 bikes were sold. In India, the Kawasaki Ninja 400 was launched in 2018. The latest available price of this bike was around 6 lakhs (ex-showroom price). Despite having a hefty price tag, it garnered quite a fan-following in the last 4 years.

With Kawasaki India ending the Ninja 400 series, you must be looking for a replacement. Though the Kawasaki Ninja 300 is available, a rider who enjoyed the performance of the Ninja 400 will hardly get the same power in the Ninja 300.

Can the Kawasaki Ninja 500 be the Right Replacement of Kawasaki Ninja 400?

To understand whether Ninja 500 can convincingly replace Ninja 400, let us check a quick comparative analysis of the Kawasaki Ninja 400 vs Kawasaki Ninja 500.

  • Kawasaki Ninja 400

The Kawasaki Ninja 400 was powered by a 399cc parallel-twin liquid cool engine. It gave this superbike a 44bhp power at 10,000 RPM, giving you the required power for acceleration and speed after ignition. This powerful machine gave you the maximum torque of 37 NM as you revved at 8,000 RPM.

In the Indian market, Kawasaki Ninja 400 was available with a 6-speed gearbox. As mentioned above, its ex-showroom price in Delhi was around Rs. 6 lakhs, which is definitely a hefty one. Many believe that it was the pricing that ultimately made Kawasaki India pull the plug for the Ninja 400.

  • Kawasaki Ninja 500

The new Kawasaki Ninja 500 was launched in India at the beginning of 2024. This new superbike has been released as a CBU (Completely Built Unit). However, both its predecessor (Ninja 400 and Ninja 300) were only assembled locally.

The Kawasaki Ninja 500 has been built on the same chassis as the Ninja 400. This new bike has a more powerful engine than its immediate predecessor. Ninja500 comes with a 451cc parallel-twin liquid cool engine instead of the 399cc engine of Ninja400.

This 451cc engine provides you with:

  • 45bhp power at 9,000 RPM
  • Highest torque of 42.6NM at 6,000 RPM

Kawasaki India has paired the 451cc engine with a 6-speed gearbox. With the new motor, you will enjoy better low-end tractability. The design of the Kawasaki Ninja 500 is identical to the Ninja 400, which is again similar to the larger Ninja ZX-10R variant.

The best thing about this new superbike is its pricing. The standard variant of the Ninja 500 bike is available at an ex-showroom price of Rs. 5,24,000. In New Delhi, its on-road price is Rs. 5,91,981.
