New Delhi: If you are worried about the mileage of cars due to petrol and diesel, then you can leave your worries behind. India is ready for the arrival of cars running on new fuels. Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has made a big announcement that they will launch the Toyota Camry running solely on ethanol in August. This will be the country’s first car that runs exclusively on ethanol fuel. Not only that, but the cost of running this car will also be significantly lower compared to petrol and diesel cars.
Ethanol-powered vehicles can lighten the burden on your pocket. People often think multiple times before buying a new car, considering the prices of petrol and diesel. Everyone is looking for good mileage because petrol and diesel consumption can be quite expensive. In addition, regular maintenance of cars also adds to the cost. Now, with the availability of affordable fuel options like ethanol, the path is becoming clear for the launch of Toyota Camry and other such vehicles.
Entry of Ethanol Two-wheelers
Not only four-wheelers but also two-wheelers running on ethanol will come into the picture in the near future. According to reports, Gadkari claims that brands like Hero MotoCorp, Bajaj Auto, and TVS Motor Company will also launch ethanol fuel-based scooters. Gadkari also mentioned that the Toyota Camry running on ethanol can generate electricity.
Running Ethanol Vehicles is Economical
The Cabinet Minister stated that the Toyota Camry running on ethanol can produce 40% electricity. He said that the rate of ethanol is 60 rupees per liter compared to the cost of petrol, which is 120 rupees per liter. This way, the average price will be reduced by 15 rupees per liter. This will benefit people by providing cheaper fuel and reducing the cost of running their vehicles.
What is Ethanol?
Ethanol-powered vehicles will be a good option for those who do not want to buy electric cars. Just for your information, ethanol is a biofuel made from crop waste, sugarcane, and grains. It is available in various blend levels such as E10, E15, E85, and E98.
E85 (83% ethanol) provides approximately 27% less energy per gallon compared to petrol but helps reduce tailpipe emissions by up to 40%. Due to its higher octane number, it also provides increased power and performance.
