New Delhi: German automaker Volkswagen has officially launched the 1.5 TSI, six-speed manual gearbox variant for its Vertes sedan. The ex-showroom price of this new variant is Rs 16.89 lakh. Along with this, Volkswagen has launched two new variants GT Plus manual and DSG automatic gearbox variants for its Tigun SUV. The starting ex-showroom price of the new Tigun GT Plus is now Rs 17.79 lakh. Along with this, the company has also introduced the option of new special color schemes for the Vertus and Tigun range.

Virtus GT Plus Manual Transmission Variants

The Volkswagen Virtus 1.5 GT was earlier offered in a single fully-loaded trim, mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. The model is now available with a six-speed manual gearbox. With a new manual gearbox, the customers now have more options for the Vertes sedan.

Volkswagen Vertes Engine

The Volkswagen Virtus sedan now gets two engine options, which includes a 1.0-litre TSI generating 115bhp power and a 1.5L TSI turbo petrol engine generating 150bhp power. It gets a 6-speed manual standard and a 6-speed torque converter automatic with the 1.0L TSI and a 7-speed DSG option with the 1.5L TSI.

Taigun New Variant

The Volkswagen Tigun 1.5 TSI also gets a manual gearbox option in the top-spec GT Plus trim. This trim was earlier offered with DSG automatic gearbox. In addition, the lower GT trim with the 1.5 TSI engine also gets the option of a DSG automatic gearbox. Earlier, the option of manual gearbox was available.

New color options

Volkswagen has also included the GT Limited Collection with the Tigun GT Plus DSG and GT Plus MT. It has been introduced in two new color options – Deep Black Pearl and Carbon Steel Gray matte finish, while the Virtus GT Plus DSG and GT Plus MT have also been introduced in Deep Black Pearl paint shade. According to the company, this new variant can only be booked online and will be made on a made-to-order basis.

Who competes with

The Volkswagen Tigun SUV competes with the best-selling Hyundai Creta in the segment, which gets a 1.5L petrol and a 1.5L diesel engine option.
