TVS Orbiter Launched: Comparison With Activa E, iQube, and Bajaj Chetak E

The TVS Orbiter EV has been launched, positioned against rivals like the Honda Activa E, TVS iQube, and Bajaj Chetak E in the electric scooter segment.

TVS has launched its all-new EV, The Orbiter, positioned below the iQube. In a detailed launch event, the brand showcased the genesis of the Orbiter, highlighting its segment-first features and range. The scooter comes with an IP67-certified traction motor and battery. To set it apart, TVS has given the Orbiter an unorthodox design with a flat floor for comfort and a long, extended seat for relaxed riding.

The scooter is offered in a vibrant six-shade palette – Neon Sunburst, Stratos Blue, Lunar Grey, Stellar Silver, Cosmic Titanium, and Martian Copper. It features a high-mounted headlamp cluster, while the DRL is neatly integrated into the front apron.

For comfort, the EV comes with an 845 mm flat seat designed to provide a relaxed riding posture. It offers 169 mm of ground clearance and rides on 14-inch wheels. Practicality is enhanced with 34 litres of under-seat storage and an additional 290 mm of usable space on the flat footboard. According to TVS, the Orbiter is the segment’s first scooter to feature cruise control, equipped with safety checks to ensure rider protection. It also includes a USB charging port and automated hill assist to ensure tackling inclines is easier.

The Orbiter will deliver a range of around 158 km on a single full charge. Adding to its practicality, the scooter features a connected cluster with Bluetooth connectivity.

This enables functions such as live location tracking, anti-theft towing alerts on mobile phones, updates on nearby charging stations, and vehicle health status. A motor cut-off safety system ensures the scooter will not accelerate in the event of a fall – even if the rider twists the throttle by mistake. The 158 km range on a single charge it will come from a 3.1 kWh battery pack as per NDTV. This makes the Orbiter a more affordable alternative to the iQube; also, a 94 km range will be available with a 2.2 kWh battery pack. Meanwhile, the 3.1 kWh iQube variant delivers a 123 km range at a price of ₹1.08 lakh as per NDTV.

The Orbiter is priced at ₹99,000 (ex-showroom, Bangalore) and can be booked through TVS’s official website.
